Movies #27
The new Lucky Luke film is out. And it's style over substance.
I'm a Lucky Luke fan, I live in Bulgaria and I've seen and read as much as I could get my hands on here. I adore the cartoons, they are entertaining and stick to the style of the comics. I like the Terence Hill TV series - even that they really look quite different from the comic book character designs, they are entertaining in their own way, and watching Terence Hill is always a delight.
When I got to know that a new Lucky Luke film is in the making I got very excited, and when I saw the trailers I thought it looks great and it's going to be lots of fun and a comic book brought to life.
Well, that was partially true. This film is really great from a visual point of view - camera-work, costumes, sets, makeup... The production design stays as close to the comics as possible. There's an apparent care for detail and the film is an eye candy for sure. It's done on a budget, and it looks great on screen. I mean - just take a look at the poster! It looks awesome! Imagine this awesomeness in 90 minutes screen time.
But the script... That's where the problem is, and that's what ruins the whole experience. I was excited when I got to know that so many characters will appear in the movie - except for Lucky Luke and Jolie Jumper we have also Pat Poker, Jessie James, Billy The Kid, Calamity Jane... But there is no coherent storyline or straight storytelling. The film is constantly swinging between the goofy comedy, the spaghetti western parody and the personal drama of Luke, presented as an orphan who witnessed the murder of his parents as a kid. Tere are some obscure scenes which seem to me like just randomly thrown around the script. The film couldn't make me involved, I didn't really care what's happening on screen, and after like 50 minutes I found myself bored and almost forcing myself to see the rest. Nevertheless, there were a couple of funny and cool scenes here and there, I especially love the sequence where Lucky Luke appears for the first time in the beginning of the film. But then again, there were plenty of dumb jokes as well.

I feel cheated, because it could have been really an amazing movie, with such a great look, if only they paid more attention to the story itself.

Lucky Luke is Back!
Days after I found out that the new Terence Hill western "Doc West" is on teh way, another exciting trailer is out! New Lucky Luke movie will premiere on October 21! Terence Hill was Lucky Luke in the movies and the TV series from the early 90s. This time Jean Dujadrin will portray the hero from the classic comic books by Morris & Goscinny. The weird thing is that he had a part in the previous Lucky Luke movie, "Les Dalton" from 2004... and he was not Lucky Luke there.

Here's a trailer:
And at the official YouTube channel you can watch some funny teasers with the characters! ...too bad I don't speak French :-/

Music #26
And I continue on Bud Spencer and Terence Hill :)
This time two songs by The Oliver Onions (Guido and Maurizio de Angelis, who did the music for countless italian movies and cartoons, in Bulgaria their most famous tune probably is the Sandokan Theme Song)
Official site - http://www.oliveronions.com/
IMDb entry Guido - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006026/
IMDb entry Maurizio - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006027/
And now, enjoy the songs :)
Bud Spencer is Bulldozer!!
You can see a mountain here comes Bulldozers
you can see a cloud of fists and dust
it's quite clear why his name is just Bulldozer
it's enough tio see him once again
where's he coming from
no one knows
and nobody would ask such a thing
no one knows
and nobody would ask such a thing.
You can see a mountain here comes Bulldozers
you can see a cloud of fists and dust
he won't be the first one to look for glory
but when he's involved he won't deny
where's he coming from
no one knows
and nobody would ask such a thing
no one knows
and nobody would ask such a thing.
But for a man he's just a good boy
just a good boy with a heart of gold
who likes to go his own way
stay far away from the world
you can see a mountain here comes Bulldozer...
but for a man he's just a good boy...
you can see a mountain here comes Bulldozer...
Fantasy fantasy fantasy fantasy
When I saw you standin' there I knew you see
That you were glad to be the one for me yeah
When I saw you walkin' home alone each day
I had to say what I felt girl
So listen now it's plain to see
Fantasy yes it's fantasy
And we'll stay together yes together wait and see
It's only fantasy always fantasy
Oh we'll stay together yes together now
And now you wait and see yes it's fantasy
You and me you and me
Fantasy fantasy fantasy fantasy
When I think of all the little things you do
To try and show to let me know you love me
I'll remember sitting all alone that day
As you walk by my heart felt high
I'm glad to say it's plain to see
Fantasy yes it's fantasy
And we'll stay together yes together
Wait and see
It's only fantasy always fantasy
Oh we'll stay together yes together now
And now you wait and see yes it's fantasy
You and me you and me

Trinity Is Still My Name
The sequel :)
Contains all the classic elements - eating beans, a big fight in the bar, shooting, riding, Terence/Trinity annoying Bud/Bambino...The soundtrack this time is by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis. They've composed music for thousands of Italian movies and they certainly did a great job with this one. The opening song "Trinity Stands Tall" is perfect for the atmosphere of this cult spaghetti western/comedy

Trinity: My Name is Trinity - Theatrical Trailer
Bud Spencer and Terence Hill - the legendary duo at its best!
"They Call Me Trinity" directed by Enzo Barboni, aka E. B. Clutcher, who shot numerous movies with Bud and Terence.
Brilliant soundtrack by Franco Micalizzi.
I grew up with this classic spaghetti western. I just adore this movie, I can watch it every single day and still enjoy it. It's the movie that got me hooked on westerns and Bud/Terence movies too. It brings many sweet memories and its especially dear to my heart...
