I'ma big fan of the Rahan comics and I grew up with the old cartoon show. The animation here is cool, but I don't think that I like the comic sidekick and Rahan's cocky attitude. In the old cartoon he was a lonesome wonderer and even the last episode when he finally found love ended with him being alone again. Anyway I can't wait to see this new updated version of one of my favourite characters!

Created by Roger Lecureux and Andre Cheret, Rahan is a comics caractere published in Pif Gadget Magazin for the first time, about 1969.

Rahan is a hero of more 180 stories, short (11 pages) or great (about 40 pages) all stories is now in 24 books (only in french version for the moment) more 3500 pages in total.

Animation #18

First of all let me say - I have no idea about the DEAD SPACE game and I'm not a fan of the game, but I am a hardcore animation fan and I follow pretty much everything that comes out. So when I got my hands on this one I was pretty excited - a brand new mature oriented animated feature!! And when I say mature oriented I mean that it has some swear words plus animated violence and blood, which we don't see every day, especially when it comes to western animation (cause if you're into anime you can't complain from the lack of these elements) "Dead Space: Downfall" is above average, but far from brilliant. And the reason for this is mainly the screenplay. The characters lack depth and emotional charge and the story itself is somehow ripping off key elements from John Carpenter's "The Thing" (the designs of the creatures...), Ridley Scott's "Alien" (the intro on the distant planet, the strong female lead, the ship sent by some corrupt institution we never really see...). There's nothing wrong in borrowing already tested classic elements, some fan-service is always welcome. The problem is that the story itself just fails to grab you. There's no background of the characters, too little information about the aim of their trip and the institution that sent them (some kind of a new religious organization... maybe it's the dystopian future when Scienthology rules the Earth?!? OMG!! I can hear Charlton Heston screaming "Damn you all to hell!", we'd prefer the rule of the Apes). The story lacks drama and suspense.

The voice cast is doing more or less OK, I guess that you can't expect them to put into their characters something that's not really there in the script and make them more interesting, so...

The music - during the movie I hardly noticed any music, but the ending credits were quite good I can say. And the use of "Twinkle, twinkle Little Star" is creepy for sure! The character design is very well done, nothing that will totally amaze you, but it fits perfectly well into the atmosphere of the movie. Everything from faces and expressions to clothes and hairstyles is neatly done.

The backgrounds are detailed and not in contrast with the coloring of the characters and the animated objects (unlyke some other animations where you can "feel" what moves and what doesn't just because the animated objects are colored differently). Even the CGI doesn't break the unity and doesn't feel out of place when it's there (mainly for the 3D models of the spaceships) The animation and the directing itself are quite good, well done boys! The perspectives and the camera angles are nice, the movements as well. It's a mixture of traditional western animation with some elements taken from the Japanese school (when it comes to the blood being splattered or the shrinking of the eye-irises for example).

I enjoyed the film, but I felt disappointed by the story. Maybe it was enough for a survival shooter game, but it wasn't enough for 75min. feature. The animation is stylish enough to accomplish more than that and with better writing it could be something of the class of "Heavy Metal" or "Titan A.E.". Still worth watching, though! Check it out if you have the chance.

ПРиказвам си с Аня, на връщане към Полша в автобуса пуснали "Рамбо 4". Това е филм за кино, не за автобус, но както и да е... Тя твърди, че това бил най-ужасния филм, който е гледала. Защо някой би искал да гледа как избиват жени и хвърлят деца в огъня?

Говорим си за това, какво всъщност иска да каже филма, и колко дразнещо е, че вместо да обърнат внимание на това, хората броят колко човека е избил Сталоун и правят bodycount таблици и диаграми...

Ето нещо, което се надявам да хвърли още малко светлина по въпроса. Специално за всички, които казват, че "Рамбо 4" е безсмислен, отвратителен, скапан и пр. филм.

Movies #16

Two days ago I watched "800 Balas" (aka "800 Bullets") - a story about a boy who finds out that his father (who died in an accident years ago) was a stunt man in spaghetti westerns. The boy sets on a quest to find out his grandfather - once also a stuntman, now working in a run-down tourist attraction...

The ending came a little bit WTF, but all in all I enjoyed the movie a lot, and I find it fresh and interestin :)

After the main titles you cannot turn off the DVD anyway ;) Watch them:

След тежък работен ден когато ми е бръмнала главата от простотии, това което ми носи удовлетворение е когато се случи да има материали като този за монтиране :)



Като ми остане време и се сетя ще взема да кача и за гарвана Спиро, кучето Сара и още представители на Пловдивската фауна :)

12.09 - Официална дата за премиерата в България.

(в тоя ред на мисли - Не знам как може да направиш "пред-премиера", след като световната премиера е минала? Сиреч, задържаш изкуствено филма с една седмица, при все че си е преведен, със субтитри, копията са готови... Но както и да е)

Рано в зарана, резервирахме билетчета за първата прожекция в града.
12.00 на обяд с брата и сестрата бяхме в току-що ремонтираното кино "Фламинго"
Брата успя да вземе билети за лица до 16 години не само за него, но и за сестрата, че дори и за мене Добре, че се обръснах за случая, то някак си минах за малолетен :)

Бяхме само ние в залата! Никакви досадници с коментари, щъкащи малки дечица или мляскащи пуканкоядачи... РАЙ!
Скоро светлините угаснаха и се завъртя чисто-новичката лента.... Оу, даааа!

Филмчето - не знам кой и защо не го харесва, но бих казал - на Сърдитко Петко празна му торбата Вместо да търсите кусури и да казвате как филмчето не е това или онова - приемете си го като това, което е и се забавлявайте! Никой не се и стреми да прави нещо с епичните мащаби на Трилогиите.

Clone Wars напълно оправда очакванията ми - свежо и симпатично приключение с любимите ми/ни герои. Нито анимацията е нещо революционно, нито историята е изпълнена с неочаквани обрати и заплетени интриги. Но това не му пречи да е добро развлечение и приятно нововъведение към Сагата.

Особено много смях вкараха дроидите, мисля че вкараха ред нови култови реплики, но да не издавам за който все още не е гледал!



А аз лично с най-голямо удоволствие бих го гледал отново, и нямам търпение да пуснат сериалчето!

След прожекцията дори ни дадоха плакати от киното и ни попитаха харесва ли ни обновената зала.
Да, харесва ни.
Скоро ще ви хареса още повече, като я направим 3-D

SON OF RAMBOW

Въпреки че не е БГ филм, първото с което ми идва на ум да го сравня е "Войната на таралежите". "Son of Rambow" е изключително приятно изживяване, един такъв хем истински, хем по детински наивен... Оставя ти онова приятното топло усещате, и те въща в ония дни, които позабравяш в натовареното си ежедневие, и колкото повече си ги припомняш, толкова повече ти се иска да се върнеш отново там.

Историята на две хлапета, тяхното приятелство и ентусиазма им да си направят свой собствен филм (както подсказва заглавието, вдъхновен от "Рамбо: Първа кръв"). И не, не става изобщо дума за пародия.

Повече няма да издавам. Няма и да пиша ревю или нещо подобно, понеже просто ще е низ от суперлативи. Пък и ака ме зарадва тоя филм, че думи нямам.
