In Memoriam - David Carradine

Cult actor David Carradine is no longer among us. I grew up watching "Kung-Fu" and he is in plenty of my favourite movies...

On June 4, 2009, Carradine was found dead in his room at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel on Wireless Road, near Sukhumwit, in central Bangkok, Thailand. The initial police report indicated that Carradine had committed suicide by hanging himself; he was found by a hotel maid sitting in a wardrobe with a cord around his neck and body. Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot his latest movie, Stretch, but the film crew were aware of his absence when they went to dine out at a restaurant on June 3.

It's really a sad end...

I have no idea what happened, and if it's really a suicide what have pushed him to commit it. Maybe it's just a grim coincidence, but one of his last roles in a movie, called My Suicide

Yes, I read the news the next day... Actually I wish I didn't know these details.
They will perform a second authopsy now. I don't know if someone else was involved and the Thailand authorities and police wanted to wash their hands and cover any trail that could lead to an international investigation. Or this "faul play" that they suggest is just a story, a rumor they spread to make it less embarassing and create some sort of mysticism around his death, sort of like Burce Lee's death.

On June 5, the Carradine family lawyer Mark Geragos spoke on Larry King Live and dismissed claims of suicide, stating instead that David Carradine could have been murdered by a "secret sect of kung fu assassins", after it was revealed that Carradine had been attempting to uncover groups working in the martial-arts underworld. It's true that Thailand has this image of exotic and dangerous country, but still this sounds far-fetched to me. Sect of Kung-Fu assassins?!

I guess that if we don't find out after the 2nd authopsy then we will never really know.
