Art #6

It's been a while since I posted about a favourite artist. I ordered another Dinotopia book today on eBay so it reminded me that I should say a few words about one of my favourite illustrators - James Gurney, the creator of Dinotopia

His detailed paintings, distinctive style and vivid imagination have brought dinosaurs back to life in one ofthe most astonishing fictional worlds, my dream-home, the island of Dinotopia.

Besides the four illustrated albums by Gurney, there are also series of novels (by authors such as Alan Dean Foster), mini-series, 13 TV episodes and an animated movie by Hallmark, and some card and video games as well.

In Bulgaria only two of the books have been published - Gurney's fourth illustrated masterpiece - "Dinotopia: Journey to Chandara", and Alan Dean Foster's novel "Dinotopia Lost"

And just to add more to the atmosphere of Gurney's astonishing art, here is the Dinotopia soundtrack by Trevor Jones!

Hello to my friend in Bulgaria! Thank you for this generous tribute. And thanks to Eastone books for publishing the book in your country.

Hello Mr.Gourney :)
What a pleasant surprise! I'm honored that you dropped by at my humble blog.

Actually I should thank you for sharing your dreams and visions with us. I love dinosaurs ever since I remember and Dinotopia means a lot to me. I wish I could live there :)

I don't know if Eastone Books plan to publish more Dinotopia titles (I asked them in a letter, but they never answered), but I hope they will!
